Software Engineer II - Backend

Overview

In this role you will join a cross-functional team as a Scala engineer to help scale Moneyfarm’s backend architecture for rapid user growth. You will become the go-to backend expert, delivering high-quality, well-tested code while continuously improving systems and reducing technical debt. You’ll collaborate to adopt new technologies and share knowledge to strengthen the platform. The opportunity combines hands-on coding with shaping architecture and engineering practices in a fast-moving fintech environment.

Responsabilità Build understanding of the Moneyfarm architecture and contribute improvement plans

Produce high-quality code with sufficient test coverage

Conduct constructive code reviews and help improve team practices

Stay updated on industry developments and their relevance to the company

Share knowledge to improve Moneyfarm systems and colleagues’ work

Requisiti fondamentali Minimum 2 years of commercial software engineering experience

Bachelor in Software Engineering or Computer Science (preferred)

Scala commercial experience preferred but not essential if strong transferable skills (Java 8+, Kotlin)

Experience with microservices, event streaming, cloud providers

Kafka, Kubernetes and AWS knowledge a plus

Strong understanding of agile methodologies (Kanban/Lean)

Experience with Git and code reviews

CI/CD knowledge (GitLab CI)

Attention to testing and detail

Experience in fintech or wealth management is a plus

English communication skills; Italian is a plus
