Position Overview:
The primary purpose of this role is to deal with the aircraft loads discipline that is design, testing, qualification, fleet support and improvement of the Company’s products in order to cope with the requirements and expectations of the Company, Customers and Airworthiness Authorities
Main tasks of the job will thus include:
the execution of a range of engineering activities, including design, analysis, assessment, simulation and testing of aircraft components and software, using established engineering tools, standards and procedures
the understanding of the requirements of engineering activities and their significance to the requirements of the customers and the certifying authorities
the application of engineering knowledge to develop the methods, tools and processes required to face research and innovation activities and to improve the quality and efficiency of engineering tasks
the production and maintenance of a range of standard engineering documentation within agreed formats in compliance with engineering and departmental instructions and provide technical data to meet design or engineering solution requirements
collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (including aerodynamics, structural design, and systems engineering) to develop load cases and load distributions
In addition, the role involves the development and application of methodologies capable of meeting the new simulation needs driven by novel aircraft architectures.
At the same time, the resource shall be involved in the development of aeroelastic simulation software, aimed at the physical modeling of rotary wing machines, in order to determine design loads.
The activities, given the multidisciplinary nature of the problem, range across different thematic areas, such as:
Aerodynamics
Dynamics of the Rotors
Flight Mechanics
Numerical calculus / Numerical mathematics / Data analytics
Requirements :
Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Passion for aviation and a desire to contribute to cutting-edge aviation technology
Knowledge of flight mechanics, aerodynamics, aircraft structures and Aeroelasticity
Knowledge of programming languages (FORTRAN, Python, Matlab), more than 1 is a plus
Practical experience (at least at academic level) in mechanical design
Attitude to problem solving, systemic approach and capability to make basic technical decisions
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Fluent in English both written and spoken
Travelling and working away from home may be required on an occasional basis and for a few days at a time.
Additional Skills (could be a plus) :
Experience with rotorcraft or helicopter structures
Knowledge of composite materials and their behavior under loads
Previous involvement in certification processes (FAA, EASA, etc.)
Proficiency in using software tools for load analysis (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, MSC/NASTRAN, MSC/ADAMS, Hypermesh)
Practical experience in airframe design, stress analysis, and fatigue assessment
Familiarity with relevant aviation standards (e.g., FAR/CS 27-29)
