About the Job

We are looking for a Backend Engineer for our Engineering team!

As a Backend Engineer you will join our team, and you will contribute to the design, development, and evolution of our IoT platform.

You will focus on backend services, APIs, data processing, integrations, and cloud-native architecture. The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering experience, solid software design skills, and the ability to work independently in a distributed environment.

Fluency in English is essential, as the role requires regular collaboration with international stakeholders, engineering teams, product owners, and external partners.

Key responsibilities

As a Backend Engineer, you will:

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services for a cloud-based IoT platform

Build reliable, scalable, and secure APIs used by Web applications, mobile applications, devices, and external systems

Contribute to the architecture of backend components, microservices, data flows, and integrations

Work on features related to device management, telemetry ingestion, user management, notifications, reporting, firmware updates, and system integrations

Collaborate with frontend engineers, DevOps engineers, architects, QA, and product stakeholders

Ensure backend services are observable, maintainable, and ready for production use

Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code

Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices

Contribute to technical decisions around scalability, performance, security, and maintainability

Experience and skills

The successful candidate should have:

Strong professional experience as a Backend Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role

Solid experience designing and implementing backend services and REST APIs

Good understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures

Experience with relational and/or time-series databases

Good knowledge of authentication, authorization, API security, and secure coding practices

Experience writing automated tests and working with CI/CD pipelines

Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions

Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset

Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments

Fluency in English, both written and spoken

The following skills are considered a plus, but are not mandatory:

Experience with Python

Experience with Microsoft Azure

Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, or GitOps tools

Experience with IoT platforms, telemetry ingestion, device management, or firmware update workflows

Experience with message brokers, event-driven architecture, or high-throughput data pipelines

Experience with infrastructure as code, especially Terraform

Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing, and production support

Soft Skills

We are looking for someone who is:

Experience with Python

Recruitment process

The recruitment process includes four steps:

HR interview

Initial discussion about the role, company, motivation, availability, salary expectations, and English fluency

Engineering Manager interview

Review of the candidate's backend experience, technical ownership, problem-solving approach, and ability to work in an international remote team

Conversation with a future teammate to assess collaboration style, practical engineering skills, code quality mindset, and team fit

Software Director interview

Final interview focused on seniority, organizational fit, leadership attitude, and alignment with engineering expectations
