Sr. Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you contribute to a long-term software product, building robust foundations while iterating for the best solution. You work in an open source, internationally distributed company with strong values and a clear vision. You design and implement new features for the Liferay Platform, writing high-quality, maintainable code and managing technical debt. You collaborate with UX designers and product managers to realize the shared vision, and you engage in peer reviews to grow with the team. This is a hands-on role for a passionate coder who thrives in a collaborative, open-source culture.

Responsabilità Design and implement new features and frameworks for the Liferay Platform and related products

Write high-quality, maintainable code and control technical debt

Participate in peer reviews and team knowledge sharing

Collaborate with UX Designers and Product Managers to realize the product vision

Use Git and GitHub daily (branches, merges, PRs, rebases)

Contribute to an open-source, cross-functional environment with a strong ethical stance

Work in an international setting with colleagues across continents

Adhere to agile development values and practices

Requisiti fondamentali +5 years of experience in software engineering best practices

Proficiency in Java, JavaScript (React), Freemarker, SQL

Proficient with Git (DVCS) and branching patterns (git-flow, PRs, rebases)

English and Italian fluency (written and spoken)

Self-starter, quick learner, proactive, and strong team player

Attention to detail and willingness to learn from others

Experience contributing to open source, hackathons, or coding meetups (preferred)

Familiarity with agile development values and practices
